Fast Copyediting for Fiction and Non-fiction

Whether you are looking to self-publish, getting ready to query an agent, or submitting to a traditional publisher, you should leverage the skills of a copyeditor to catch the errors you missed and make sure your manuscript sparkles.

I offer copyediting that will give you the peace of mind all writers crave about your manuscript.

These are some of the categories that my copyediting covers:

• Spelling

• Punctuation

• Grammar

• Tense

• Sequencing

• Word Choice

• Sentence structure

• Formatting

I value the relationship between writer and editor, considering every aspect of the craft as I carefully evaluate the work. Sensitive to your unique voice, I strive to enhance that style through ensuring the foundations of writing are as solid as possible.

My Background and Experience

Journalist: I spent twenty years as an internationally award-winning daily newspaper and magazine writer.

Copyediting: I’ve been copyediting websites, marketing copy, magazine articles, short stories, and more for the last decade. These include fiction and non-fiction.

Blogging: I’ve been blogging since 2008, serving as Senior Partner for a Canadian digital parenting magazine from 2008-2013.

Creative Writing Coach: I’ve been teaching creative writing to young people since 2017, guiding dozens of students through the process of developing and editing their own fiction stories.

Biography: I’ve written for the Colorado Springs Gazette, the Kansas City Star, the Spokane Spokesman-Review, Black Press, Our Big Earth Media Co., Canadian Parent, Crittenden Research,  Vancouver Mom, Roundhouse Radio, Conversations That Matter, Family Fun Canada, and more.  My work has garnered numerous awards including the prestigious (U.S.) National Mental Health Association Media Award for feature writing.

My Method

I use Track Changes in Google Docs so you can see every change that I’m suggesting and we can walk through an edit in an online session through SKYPE.

Then you can decide whether to accept the change or reject it.

If you want more than copyediting, I also offer first-draft consultations which means I’m looking at your overall structure and guiding you through the revision process.

For copyediting, I charge a flat fee of 2 cents per word.

80,000 word book = $1600.

Turnaround Time:

Book edits are completed within four weeks of me receiving any manuscript. Very often, I will complete it in less time.
